Aberdeen, MS (August 17, 2020) – On Friday night, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash on a highway in Aberdeen.
According to police, the collision took place at the Highway 25 Carwash on MS-25 in Aberdeen around 9:20 p.m. A woman identified as 58-year-old Cozzetta Johnson was walking across the highway when she was struck by an SUV traveling southbound.
Police confirmed that Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by paramedics.
The driver of the vehicle that struck her, who was later identified as Keith Brewer, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death. He was pulled over by multiple bystanders and held there until police arrived.
The Aberdeen Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office continue their investigation into the collision.
