Columbus, MS (August 24, 2020) – Around 7 p.m. last evening, a fatal crash took place in Columbus that took the life of one victim.
Lowndes County officials confirmed that the crash took place on Wilkins Wise Road when three vehicles collided with each other for reasons that are not yet known. The accident was deemed a head-on collision with severe damages to the vehicles involved.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident, as well as a coroner. A coroner pronounced 45-year-old Sheldon Campbell dead at the scene of the accident.
One of the victims was so badly injured that he was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. Two others were taken to a local area hospital via ambulance.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extensive period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation is currently ongoing.
