Picayune, MS (August 30, 2020) – This past week, a man was injured in a bicycle accident involving a hit-and-run driver in Picayune.
Though the Mississippi Highway Patrol has released little details about the collision, it is believed that the male bicyclist was traveling on Highway 11 around the area of Sam Mitchell Road in Pearl River County. He was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle in the area.
The driver of the vehicle who struck the man immediately fled the scene of the accident. Unfortunately, the party has not yet been found or arrested.
The pedestrian was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their condition is not currently known.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident at this time.
