Tupelo, MS (August 28, 2020) – Around 2:40 a.m. this morning, Tupelo Police responded to the scene of a fatal crash at an intersection.
According to police, the accident took place at the intersection of South Gloster Street and MS-6 when two vehicles collided with each other. One of the vehicles involved immediately burst into flames due to the severity of the accident. Police and firefighters worked together to put out the fire.
The driver of one of the vehicles, identified as 33-year-old Frederick Boyd, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Paramedics confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle was taken to the emergency room for non-life-threatening injuries, though they have not yet been identified.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
