Vancleave, MS (August 22, 2020) – Yesterday, August 21, one person was killed in a fatal head-on collision in Vancleave.
Though few details have been released regarding the accident, it is believed that the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 57 and Bear Ridge Road when two vehicles collided head-on. Police did not confirm the make or model of the vehicles involved, or which one crossed the line and struck the other. The vehicles involved were severely damaged as a result.
State troopers, paramedics, and fire crews were immediately dispatched to the scene of the accident. They did not say if anybody suffered injuries but one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released.
The roadway was blocked for an extended period of time at the intersection as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
