Oxford, MS – Malori Smith Injured in Truck Accident on MS-7

Oxford, MS (November 2, 2020) – Around 12:17 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, a woman was injured in a truck accident on a highway in Oxford.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when 35-year-old Jared Morrison was driving his Freightliner truck headed south on MS-7 when 22-year-old Malori Smith tried to make a left turn in her Saturn Ion into a driveway. The two vehicles forcefully collided with each other.

Smith was the only person injured in the accident. She was flown to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the truck remained at the scene but was not injured.

The truck overturned, which led to immense damages to the vehicles involved. The roadway was closed for some time as a result. Traffic was rerouted in the area for an extended period of time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the crash continues.
