Steens, MS (November 5, 2020) – On Monday evening, November 2, a man was killed in a fatal crash that occurred in Steens.
According to authorities, the accident took place on Neilson Road around the area of Highway 12. A driver was traveling on the roadway when they lost control of the vehicle, causing it to strike a ditch. The vehicle then went onward and ran into two trees, overturning.
Paramedics were immediately dispatched to the scene. They found that a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Franklin Wayne Honeycutt from Caledonia, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Two other people in the vehicle, including the driver, were seriously injured as a result of the crash. They were airlifted to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues at this time.
