Jackson, MS (October 10, 2020) – A motor vehicle accident reported on Friday evening left one person in the Jackson area injured. At approximately 8:30 p.m., on October 9, the Jackson Police Department responded to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on McDowell Road.
Reports show that an officer with the Jackson Police Department was responding to a burglary call on McDowell Road. As the vehicle traveled down the road with his blue lights turned on, a vehicle pulled out in front of the cruiser, causing a collision. The officer’s vehicle then crashed into a light pole, causing it to fall down to the ground.
The officer was injured in the accident. Paramedics responded to the scene and provided medical treatment to the injured officer before transporting them to a local hospital for further care. At this time, there is no word on the condition of the officer.
Investigations surrounding the crash are currently underway with the Jackson Police Department.
