New Albany, MS – 18-Wheeler Collision with Injuries on MS-30

New Albany, MS (October 3, 2020) – Around 5 p.m. on Friday night, October 2, an 18-wheeler collision with injuries occurred in New Albany.

Union County deputies confirmed that the accident took place when two 18-wheelers collided with each other in the westbound lanes of MS-30. Police are not sure about the circumstances that caused one of the truck drivers to lose control and crash into the other.

When the one semi-truck ran into the back of the other one, it started a severe fire. Fire crews were dispatched to the scene and were able to put out the fire in a short amount of time.

An unidentified driver of one of the tractor-trailers was taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their condition is not yet known.

The highway was closed down in the area for several hours as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
