Corinth, MS (September 8, 2020) – Early Saturday morning, September 5, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Corinth.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol confirmed that the accident took place on US-72, around the area of County Road 611, when a pedestrian was struck by a motorcycle. The pedestrian has since been identified as 44-year-old Gregory Wayne Jones, who was walking near the westbound lanes of US-72 when the accident took place.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were present at the scene of the accident. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The driver of the motorcycle, who has not yet been identified, was moderately injured and taken to the hospital for treatment.
The roadway was closed in the area of the accident for an extensive period of time until the police cleared the accident.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
