Greenwood Springs, MS (August 9, 2021) – At 2:19 p.m. on the afternoon of Monday, August 9, a car accident occurred on a major roadway in Greenwood Springs.
According to the Starkville Police Department, the accident happened on US-278 around the area of Splung Road. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the crash, the roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
