Houston, MS (August 20, 2021) – At 9 p.m. on the night of Thursday, August 19, a woman was killed in a pedestrian accident on a highway in Houston, Mississippi.
According to Houston Police, the accident happened on Highway 8 around the area of the Trace Regional Hospital. A woman was walking in the area when she was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle traveling in the area. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, identified as 33-year-old Lisa Marie Weaver, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, the roadway was entirely blocked for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
