Oxford, MS (August 8, 2021) – On Sunday afternoon, August 8, a car accident with injuries occurred on a major highway in Oxford.
According to the Oxford Police Department, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of MS-7 around the area of South of Hilltop and the Junction. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with one another due to reasons that are not fully known. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more parties were injured in the accident. The unidentified parties were taken to the hospital for treatment, though their conditions are not yet known.
The area was blocked for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene. Police urged those traveling through to avoid the area for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
