Brandon, MS (February 25, 2021) – Around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, February 24, a woman was killed in a fatal collision on a Brandon highway.
According to police, the accident took place at the intersection of MS-25 and Holly Bush Road. At the time, a Toyota Sequoia was headed southbound in the wrong lane of traffic when it struck a northbound Chrysler PT Cruiser.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident. Three occupants inside the Chrysler were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. They have since been identified as 32-year-old Tamaria Shumake, an 8-year-old child, and a 5-year-old child. Two others inside the Chrysler were taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Toyota was identified as 54-year-old Kyle Dixon, who was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries as well. Since being released, he was charged with DUI manslaughter.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
