Columbus, MS (July 6, 2021) – At 1:30 a.m. on Monday morning, July 5, a man was killed in a scooter accident in Columbus.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the accident happened on MS-373. A man identified as 31-year-old Marquis Ramone Dixon was riding a scooter when the scooter was struck by a passenger vehicle. The driver of the passenger vehicle did not remain at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. Dixon was badly injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police did not confirm if they caught the driver responsible for the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
