Hattiesburg, MS (July 8, 2021) – At 4:27 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, July 8, a car accident happened in Hattiesburg.
According to Lamar County officials, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-59 around the area of Hardy Street. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions are not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Law enforcement officials told drivers to find alternate routes until the scene was cleared.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
