Byhalia, MS (June 13, 2021) – At 11:29 a.m. on Thursday morning, June 10, a man was killed in a fatal truck crash in Byhalia.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-22 around the area of mile marker 22. At the time, a Freightliner was traveling east when the vehicle collided with a second Freightliner. The accident caused complete destruction of the first truck.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The driver of the first truck, identified as 61-year-old Leander Webb, was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead while there.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
