Morton, MS – Teen Killed in Pedestrian Accident Near Church

Morton, MS (June 16, 2021) – On Tuesday, June 15, a teen was killed in a pedestrian accident in an unidentified area in Morton.

According to officials, the accident happened when a 13-year-old was walking in the area when he was struck by a passenger vehicle. The vehicle ran off the roadway and into the grass when it struck the child. The vehicle then came to a rest after it collided with a church.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other local responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. The 13-year-old boy who was struck was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.

The driver of the vehicle has since been identified as 35-year-old Geran Rae Rojas. He has since been charged with driving without a license, not having insurance, and fleeing the scene of an accident.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.

The Morton Police Department continues its investigation into the accident.
