Marshall Co, MS - Man Killed in Truck Accident on I-22 at Red Banks

Marshall Co, MS (May 31, 2021) – Two tractor-trailers collided in a fatal accident in Marshall County on Thursday, May 27, troopers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol confirmed.

The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. near the Red Banks exit. Officials with the Department of Public Safety said that a 2006 Freightliner, driven by 61-year-old Leander Webb of Como, Mississippi, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 22. A 2019 Freightliner, whose driver was 50-year-old Timothy Scott of Cordova, Tennessee, was also traveling eastbound on I-22 when it struck the rear of Webb's tractor-trailer.

Leander Webb sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at Regional One Hospital. Timothy Scott also had minor injuries, though it's unclear if he was transported to an area medical center.

This wreck is still under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and further details have not been released.
