Macon, MS (November 18, 2021) – Around 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning, November 17, a man was killed in a Macon truck accident. He has since been identified by police.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of MS-45 and MS-388. Two 18-wheelers were traveling in the area when they collided after entering the intersection. Police confirmed that one of the trucks ran into the left side of the other truck’s trailer. This led to extensive damages to both vehicles.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. One of the truck drivers, identified as 37-year-old Benjamin Kirk, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The other driver, identified as a 24-year-old man from Macon, was not hurt in the accident.

Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
