Byhalia, MS (September 17, 2021) – At 5:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, September 16, a man was injured in a Byhalia truck accident.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of I-22 near the area of mile marker 13. A semi-truck driver identified as 35-year-old Dustin Glidden was driving a semi-truck in the area when he collided with a 2017 Jeep Compass. The Jeep Compass was being driven by 38-year-old David Austin. Both of the vehicles were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Austin was the only person seriously injured in the accident. He was taken to Region One Health for treatment of his injuries. His condition is not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
