Raymond, MS (September 30, 2021) – Around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 30, an infant was killed in a fatal collision in Raymond.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of MS-18 and Pentecostal Drive. A 33-year-old woman identified as Jerica Sampson was traveling west on the highway when her Nissan collided with a Chevrolet Cruze driven by 18-year-old David Cooper. The driver of an Impala, identified as 19-year-old Jakayla Parker, swerved so that she could avoid the crash. She crossed the median and slammed into an Impala being driven by 39-year-old Latoya Flowers.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. Three people were seriously injured in the accident. The injured victims were taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center by ambulance. An infant inside the Nissan Maxima was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.

The roadway was blocked for several hours as police worked to clear the scene.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
