Starkville, MS (September 24, 2021) – Two brothers both sustained injuries during a roofing construction accident on Friday, September 24th in Starkville.
The accident took place at about 2:00 p.m. at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
The Starkville Fire Chief said the two men were part of a work crew replacing the church’s roof.
A mechanical lift they were using overturned and ejected one of the men from the bucket, injuring him.
The other man was operating the lift at the time. One of his arms and both legs were pinned underneath the equipment.
Bulldog Towing and Starkville Utilities assisted in the rescue due to the amount of manpower necessary. Nearly 40 people assisted altogether.
The lift operator was med flighted to a hospital in Tupelo.
The other victim was transported by ambulance to OCH Regional Medical Center.
