Picayune, MS (August 22, 2022) – On Friday, August 19, two people lost their lives when the vehicle they were traveling in left the road and collided with a tree in Pearl River County. At approximately 11:45 p.m., police with the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the crash.
Sources say the collision occurred on Highway 11 in Picayune. Reports reveal that Gail Fontenot, 35, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado with a passenger identified as Jose Cardenas, 29. They were headed south on Highway 11 when the crash happened.
Both Fontenot and Cardenas lost their lives in the collision. Police in Picayune continue to investigate the details of the incident.
