Jackson, MS – I-55 Scene of Major Car Wreck between High St & Fortification St

Jackson, MS (December 1, 2022) – Shortly after 9:30 a.m., on the morning of December 1, a serious auto crash was reported to officials in Jackson. Sources report the wreck occurred in the northbound lanes of I-55. 

Preliminary reports suggest the accident took place on Interstate 55 between High Street and Fortification Street. Three right lanes of the interstate were blocked while crews worked in the area. 

At least one person sustained injuries. EMS rendered aid to the wounded parties at the crash scene before transporting those in need of extensive medical attention to a local hospital. The names of the involved individuals were not immediately reported. 

A portion of the roadway remained closed for some time on the morning of December 1 while officials worked to clear the wreckage and assist those involved. Few details are currently available to report concerning the nature of the collision.
