Jackson, MS – Matthew Miller Killed in Fatal Construction Accident

Jackson, MS (January 12, 2022) – At 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday evening, January 11, a man was killed in a fatal construction accident in Jackson.

According to Hinds County officials, the incident took place at Stonewall and Livingston Road at the Village of Livingston workplace. A worker identified as 33-year-old Matthew Miller was digging when he suddenly became trapped approximately 20 feet below ground. There were two other workers on scene at the time of the accident.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Miller was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries caused by the fall. It is not known if anyone else was injured in the accident.

The area was blocked for an extended period of time as police worked to clear the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
