Oxford, MS (January 20, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a car accident that took place in the afternoon hours of Wednesday, January 19 in Oxford.
Oxford Police officials confirmed that the accident happened at 2624 Jackson Avenue. Two or more vehicles were traveling in the westbound lanes of traffic when they collided with each other after one lost control. The vehicles involved in the accident were badly damaged and had to be removed from the scene by tow trucks.
Numerous responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims were seriously injured in the collision. The injured parties were rushed to local hospitals for treatment, though their conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the roadway was blocked for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing at this time.
