Sidon, MS (January 15, 2022) – On Thursday evening, January 13, a woman was killed in a fatal car accident on a roadway in Sidon, Mississippi.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol officials, the accident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on US-49. Police confirmed that 75-year-old Atlonia Wallace was traveling south on the roadway in a Hyunda Santro when her vehicle collided with a Nissan Rogue operated by 60-year-old Altha Fondren. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Atlonia was severely injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known if anyone else was hurt in the collision.
Due to the severity of the collision, several southbound lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
