Vicksburg, MS (July 03, 2022) – A series of collisions took place in a residential neighborhood on Thursday, June 30 that resulted in numerous injuries to those involved. 

The crash took place at about 6:00 p.m. in the 4200th block of Halls Ferry Road at the Melrose Avenue intersection in Vicksburg.  

According to reports, the melee began when a sedan was rear-ended by another vehicle that attempted to flee the scene. The sedan crashed into a chainlink fence on the side of the road and the absconding driver caused another collision involving another sedan and a pick-up truck.

Less than half a block away, a pick-up truck and a sedan collided almost head-on. It appears as though they both tried to turn onto Madison Avenue coming from opposite directions on Halls Ferry Road. 

Whether the third crash was instigated by the first or second crash remains unclear.  

Police, fire crews, and several ambulances were on the scene. Multiple victims were medically transported to area hospitals.
