Mississippi Auto Accidents

Oxford, MS – Auto Collision Causes Injuries on Heritage Dr

In Mississippi, auto collisions happen more frequently than in a lot of other states. On average, the state sees hundreds of thousands of car crashes per year. These wrecks happen in seconds, but they can alter the lives of those involved forever. The most common reason car wrecks take place in Mississippi is currently speeding. Speeding is a dangerous form of driver negligence that takes more than 10,000 lives per year in the United States.

Drivers who don’t pay close enough attention to the road are everywhere. It’s a scary fact that driver negligence is the leading cause of auto accidents throughout the United States. Additionally, car crashes are among the top ten leading causes of death in the nation, which ultimately means that driver negligence takes the lives of tens of thousands of people per year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Association reports that approximately 95% of car crashes are caused by driver negligence.

Regardless of the rules and regulations put in place to keep drivers from acting careless or reckless while behind the wheel, they continue to behave negligently and cause accidents that lead to injuries and death. Some leading types of driver negligence include:

  • Distracted driving
  • Intoxicated driving
  • Fatigued driving
  • Speeding

Approximately 3,000 people lose their lives per year due to distracted driving. About 31% of car crash fatalities are caused by speeding, and about 32 people are killed per day due to drunk driving. These statistics highlight the fact that driver negligence is a serious problem in the United States.
