Vicksburg, MS (May 23, 2022) – Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle collision that took place on a roadway in Vicksburg on Monday morning, May 23. 

According to local officials, the accident happened around 8:20 a.m. on Baldwin Ferry Road. A blue convertible Volkswagen Beetle was traveling in the area when the driver suddenly lost control due to unknown reasons. The Beetle crashed off the side of the road and into some trees, which led to extensive front-end damage. 

Vicksburg paramedics and fire crews were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Several individuals inside the Beetle had to be extricated from the damaged vehicle. The parties were then rushed to local hospitals for treatment, though their identities and conditions are not currently known. 

Due to the severity of the collision, a large portion of the road was blocked for some time. Police urged those traveling in the area to use caution until the scene was cleared. 

Vicksburg Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
