Vicksburg, MS (May 29, 2022) – Two men sustained injuries in a car accident that took place at an intersection in Vicksburg on Saturday morning, May 28. 

According to Vicksburg Police, the accident happened around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Oak Ridge Road and Henry Road. The driver of a Subaru SUV was headed south on Oak Ridge when the driver made a left turn onto Henry. This is when the SUV collided with a Nissan pickup truck. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. The SUV sustained severe front-end damage and the pickup truck went off the side of the road and into a ditch, sustaining side-impact and front-end damage. 

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Responders had to extricate the driver of the Nissan to get them out of their vehicle. Both of the drivers were initially rushed to local hospitals. The driver of the Nissan was taken by medical helicopter due to severe injuries. 

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene. 

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
