Jackson, MS – Two Killed in DUI Crash on Canton Mart Rd near I-55

Jackson, MS (January 19, 2023) – Two people lost their lives in a car accident that occurred in Jackson. The wreck occurred before 3:00 a.m. in Jackson on Sunday, January 15. 

Sources report the incident involved a Toyota Camry and a black Nissan Altima. It occurred at Canton Mart Road and the Interstate 55 frontage road. 

Jada Kelly, 22, was identified as the driver of the Camry that collided with the Nissan, taking the life of Azure Verbena Lee Higgins, 46, and 43-year-old Valerie Renee Lynch, according to information from police. 

The Jackson Police Department and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office investigated the scene. The driver of the Nissan and Kelly survived the collision. Kelly was charged with aggravated DUI, police said.
