From Broken Places to Beautiful Purpose
Missy will tell you herself, she hasn’t lived a charmed life, and she doesn’t pretend to have all the answers. When the weight of the world got heavy, she turned to alcohol to quiet the noise. In 2017, she made the bravest decision of her life: she asked for help. She walked into recovery and chose herself. This October, she celebrates nine years of sobriety, nine years of showing up, staying present, and proving that the hardest chapter doesn’t have to be the last one.
But life wasn’t done testing her. Just nine months into her recovery, while she was still learning to stand again, Missy lost her 25-year-old son, Macon, to a sudden and devastating death. The kind of loss that drops you to your knees and makes you wonder how you’ll ever breathe again.
Most people would have crumbled. Missy grieved, Lord, she grieved, but she also got back up. She came home to Tupelo, Mississippi, wrapped her arms around her family, and, with the encouragement of her husband, opened a personal injury practice. And the name? It chose itself.
Mama Justice.
Growing up, her boys’ friends always knew her house was the safe place, the door that was always open, the kitchen that always had a plate, the mama who would listen without judgment and fight for you without hesitation. That’s who Missy is. When you’re hurting, when the world feels like it’s falling apart, you go to your mama, because she’ll stand up for you when you can’t stand up for yourself.
That fierce, protective, I-will-not-let-them-do-this-to-you instinct? That’s the heartbeat of every single case we take.
More Than a Law Firm, It’s a Ministry
Missy doesn’t call this a business. She calls it a mission. A ministry. A way to honor the son she carries in her heart every single day.
To keep Macon’s memory alive, her husband established The Macon a Difference Foundation as a gift on what would have been Macon’s birthday, January 12th. In partnership with CREATE, the foundation funds youth programs and scholarships to help foster all that God has for them. It gives people in addiction something powerful: a second chance. It helps with record expungements so that a person’s worst moment doesn’t define the rest of their life. Because Missy knows, more than most, that people deserve the grace to start over.
What started as a tiny office, just Missy and her son’s girlfriend answering the phones, fueled by coffee, faith, and a refusal to quit, has grown into something extraordinary:
50 dedicated team members and 10 trial attorneys who believe in this mission as deeply as Missy does.
7 offices across Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama, with plans for a new location in Fort Worth Texas and other areas, because families everywhere deserve someone in their corner.
Hands-on leadership: Missy is still the first one through the door every morning. She still takes client calls. She still sits across the table from families and says, “Tell me what happened, I’m listening, and I’m not going anywhere.” She personally works cases because she believes every family deserves maximum compensation to pay their medical bills, put their lives back together, and breathe again.
